If there are no scratches or damage... i would advise you to take it back to the shop and say its not working... and you have no idea why.
I know its slightly dishonest advise... but ;)
They should give you a new piece and this will probably go back to sony so no real harm done.

Oops! Sorry to hear that...
Just incase you do repair it or buy a new one... the first thing you should do is get a protective case for it, thats what I did with mine and it paid for itself in days.
Unfortunatly I dont have the knowledge to help you fix this one, so I shall quietly exit... but there are some real gurus here so I think your problem might be solved, I wish you the best of luck!

many thanks anyway well i hope there is someone to help me have built many a computer in my time so i think a humble psp would be no bother to repair just wondering what it could be that's broken???

Second hand from... someone else or a high street shop (preowned)
because if you have its still covered by the shops warranty.

iam trying to update to 3.02 oe-b
ok i first downloaded this!
Downgrader2.71LITE
from http://pspupdates.qj.net/2-71-Downdater-...pg/49/aid/64291
but when running the prog. it says,
iam using the lite version and i have to copy the 1.5 folder by hand my problem is i dont have the 1.5 folders?
please can some1 help me to get started!
i have a 2.71 psp its NOT A TA-082

well i just got news from the repair shop and they say they can't replace the screen because some idiot before has glued the backlight to the screen using super glue and also has done on the backlight cable to the circuit board, christ what idiot would do that???? looks like it will be a new psp for me then!!!

Whoa! Bad luck m8... if it makes you feel any better if I EVER run into anyone who says they have done something like that, will punch him on the nose for you! :)
Best of luck with your new PSP, needless to say... get the protective case/cover for it, it pays for itself even if you dont drop it..

hi all just been reading thru the forum, but i cant see any 1 with the same problem with me i bought a psp of a friend of a friend it has been working fine up to now but i tryed playing gta vice ctiy stories with a game my parents bought me but it asks me to update but wen i try the sreen goes blue and u cnt see any writing its jst buttons to click like X to go back and O to accept any ideas people ??

Eh? I dont see much of a problem here, you need to update to play GTAVCS thats all, its asking you to accept or decline the update.
Advice would be not to update, whats your current firmware? And is your PSP a TA-082?

Yea during updates u cant read the words that says accept decline and the licen agrements and stuff, this has happen to me before...its just that the disk is probably scratched, or something to do with the disk.
Currently looking to buy some broken game system, PSP, PS2 slim, PS3, Xbox, and Xbox360 only. Send me a PM with price, what it will come with power adapter, AV..., and the problem if you know what is wrong with it.

Version spoff doesnt do anything it just make the version under system info say something different. You cant play higher version game or anything. U should install dark_alex's custom firmware. Its not really risky

It doesnt do anything just make it says something else than your actual version. If u version spoff to 3.03 on 1.5 sony still dectes that its 1.5, but it just says 3.03 under system info. Just something to custom it. Like those costom words like it says App indtead of games.

Well, how did you confirm that? and where'd you get that comparison pic? Do you own both and did you take the pic yourself?

I was kind of lazy to Find the words but there's this one quest of how can I fix the error when I go infrastructure mode or on the inter net that says "Couldn't obtain IP adress. Time to obtain IP adress timed out."

Just a quick FYI, was browsing ebay and saw they are selling replacement screens for PSPs... you might want to check it out as it may solve your problem...

There is i think no 2.814 devhook. but there is 3.03 fw devhook. i think it was called devhook 0.52. I dont use devhook anymore since i got custom firmware so...

There is no devhook for 3.03. It has gone beyond that. It is now open edition (OE).
