Media in burner not recognized by any burning programs

I was using Prodisc DVD-R's on my TDK DVDRW0404N All Format Burner but suddenly started having problems with burns. After that burn programs stopped working at all. Just tried with brand new media (TDK 8X DVD+R) and results are stll the same:

1. Nero locked at 2X write speed
2. reads burner as empty when blank disc is inside
3. DVD Decryptor continues to read as "device not ready (medium not present)" even after new disc has been placed.

Someone help please.

 

Burner won't play DVDs either. Still reads as empty.

 

forgot to mention it does play cd-roms and audio cds. It plays the audio CDs a bit choppy and gave a message about having to convert it to analog when playing on windows media player.
