hi. I was just curious to which processor i should buy. i have an emachines 1 ghz processor with 384 ram and wanted to know what processor i should up it to to make it better. i ran tuneup utilities and it said to do it. But it said to up it to SSE2 hyperthreading technology and i was wondering which chip i could get, and does the chip have to be another celeron chip? Also is it easy to install once i get it? like plug and play.. i never did it before? Thanks! --- also, try to keep the price under 150 for which chip i get, preferably under 100 would be nice though.... duboy1
your board can only take upto a p3 1.3gig intel cpu BUT might be possible to go to VIA cpu supposedly 1.6gig but other than that system is dead end
well, why do they make celeron processors up to 2 ghz? like for example i found this one... and what you are sayin i cant put this one in my comp? http://www.newegg.com/app/viewprodu...ion=19-112-185&ATT=Processors&CMP=OTC-17exta6
Your motherboard doesnt support a cpu bigger than 1.3gig, celeron make them faster but your mobo cant take that fast( may be old?). You could get a new mobo and processor for about £150
duboy1, that was a p4 celeron which uses a different socket478 whereas yours is socket 370. a p4-2.4d celeron is $91Can. & a board is about $64Can. asus p4vp-mx
