DVD burning troubles

    I recently installed a dvd + RW/R burner on my computer.
    It burns cd-r's no problem, but i can't seem to get it to burn the dvd's

    I am using Memorex DVD+R Media.
    In "My Computer", it shows up as the DVD Burning Drive, but once i put the Disc in, it changes to cd-rom drive and it doesn't seem to recognize the blank media.

    The Drive I have is a VBTDVRW1A.

    Any ideas on what to do?

    I have spent all day trying to figure it out, still no luck, maybe it's the media?
