Making files smaller

    I have two mpeg files that are too big to fit on a dvd-r but are too big to fit on a 4.7GB DVD-R does anyone know how to make the files smaller? it is under 120minutes so that is not the problem. Please help me out!

    Can you explain me in layman terms how this relates to DVD-R Media Quality?

    i am sorry, i thought that the fact that i could only get half of the dvd on becuase it isnt fitting but it should fit cause it was under the 4.7 GB was a possible problem with the quality when i was trying to put it on to the DVD-R
