Can you use standalone DVD recorders to backup data?

    Hi, I wanted to know if it's possible to use a standalone DVD Recorder to backup data from my PC ?
    i.e. connect it to my PC and backup files/folders onto a DVD.
    I've not purchased a DVD Recorder yet, but just wanted to know if this would be possible.
    Would appreciate any help.
