Does this s/w write back out the files once they've been normalized...for later cd burning? Can't seem to see where that gets done, if it can do it.

Mp3Gain doesn't write any extra files, it simply normalises the file you put through it without losing any quality. You can increase / decrease the volume as required, as often as you like.
