I just replaced a CD Rom with a DVD Rom from a different computer, i'm pretty sure the wiring and everythings correct but now both my drives dont work. My Computer wont recognize any of the drives. Any Suggestions?
you have a jumper conflict either master or slave. at the back of dvd drive between the data connector & the audio connector is 3 pairs of pins master slave & cable select. if the 1 of the 2 drives not working is your c drive which is master than change the dvd to slave just like the cdrom was
you forgot the hard drive & the floppy is not on the ide cable but on a 34pin cable. what is jumper configuration for the hd, dvddrom & dvdwriter & which drives are on which cables: primary(ide0 or 1) & secondary(ide1 or 2)
i see all the ide stuff but i dont know how to tell you which one it is. My computer can now recognize the drives but my dvd-rom still wont read dvd's. This computers a lot of trouble
does dvdwriter read & play dvds ok, does dvdrom read & play cds ok, how old is dvdrom, have you tried cleaning the laser lens, is there an exclamation mark in device manager & what is make & model# of dvdrom
dvd writer reads and dvd's ok, dvd rom reads cd's ok, dvd roms about 2-3 years old, no, i havnt tried to clean the lens,no theres not an exclamation mark on it in the device manager, and the model number is Pioneer DVD-Rom DVD-116R
try cleaning the lens with a cd/dvd cleaning disk from walmart, radio shack, local computer store & office supply store
