whats the best cheapest dvd recorder out there in the market?

    i am looking something under $225...any suggestions and what type of brand media should i use...i also dont want to pay alot on media. Thanks, bayarea_f

    I presume your looking for one for your computer as opposed to a standalone dvd-recorder. After ALOT of research i bought the every popular and reliable Pioneer 108(aka A08) along with Datawrite grey 8x media.

    I have also heard that the Lacie is quite a good model - though i would stay away from the Sony DRU.

    i actually do have a pioneer dvd burner for my computer but i am lookin for a console dvd recorder.......is those ilo any good dvd recorders??

    The last link has alot of user reports if u search for a particular drive/media u should get some feedback. However i believe that even though some of these drives are region free they are not macrovision free and you'll need an external clarifier/de-macrovision box to make it work. If you do get kit such as this i'd be interested to hear how the picture/sound quality compares with your pioneer writer.
