If I update my drive will it burn dvd's at 4x now instead of 2x or will it only allow me to use the 4x media but still only burn at 2x?
no the only thing you MUST update for is the use of high density media...the record speed will remain at 2x...as a foot note, after i updated my drive would not function as originally configured. It was set up on a promise ata 133 pci card as MB channels were full...it would play pre-recorded (factory) movies but if any other disk, including blank were inserted int toh drive the computer would lock-up
