encoder question

    I currently have been switching between Avid's built in encoders for Avid Xpress DV and Discreet Cleaner 5. I have been told that Discreet Cleaner 5 is the industry standard, but from what ive seen, avid's encoders produce a higher quality output file. Can anyone suggest the best Codec Software for encoding everything from MPEG-1,2 and 4, quicktime mov formats, realplayer formats, etc. etc. Please help, im looking for the best of the best.

    Im told the best encoder on the net is CCE SP but unfortunately it comes at quite a big cost!

    CCE is nice. Also, ProCoder from Canopus has been getting some good reviews. Haven't tried to much myself.
