    Hi gman,

These codes have gone, scrambled at 19.00 aprox. and possibly scrambled again 21.55 Apparently you don't need adaptor the cabel is combined into 1

I will get 1 juring the week and test it and let you know the results

    Thanks

That cable will be handier (Never new such thig existed)

    RE: Codes

They're the codes I'm using right now & they are fine.

Could it be a cable issue in your area?

    Howya jibbbbbb

the two serial ports on your pc are are most likely a 25 pin paralell printer port and a 15 pin video port for using an overhead projector.

The only way you can use a null modem cable with that pc is to get a usb to 9 pin male serial adapter seen in the following link USB to Serial 9-Pin Male Adaptor: Maplin Part# ZP43W

It makes it somewhat more expensive as you also need to buy the null modem cable but unless you can borrow a laptop or pc with a 9 pin male comm port its your only option. If and when you get the adapter give us a shout back here for easy details on how to configure it.

Keep your receipts and don't destroy the packaging. I am sure that there is no such thing as a "null modem to usb adapter." You may be able to return it! But I was wrong once before:) I had to use the correct null modem cable (Maplins) AND a separate D9 serial to USB adapter, which came with its own drivers from Peats. (Maplins didn't have one.

Not quite sure if they do. However if you go there make sure it says Null Modem as an ordinary serial cable which looks the same wont work. A null modem is reverse wired.

Sounds like you need to change your comm port number as the STB link limits your choice to 1 or 2

Try the following (Originally posted by gman496)

    Assuming you are using XP?

    Do the following.

    START
    Right Click "MY COMPUTER"
    Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)
    Choose "Properties"
    Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
    Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
    Restart Windows

Set STBLink to COM2 & try to connect.

If that fails try another port number.
