Hi, I'm a Complete nOOb, I have downloaded some movies and they all have DivX file names but with Avi file extensions, are theses Avi files or DivX, I have clicked properties then summary, but no information is given is there an easy wasy of telling the two apart? Many Thanks ZeRoX
If you looked up a glossary, you would probably beable to work it out. Simply, AVI is Audio Video Interleave (from my memory) and its simply a way of connecting, synchronising a video and audio stream (of any type which windows supports, or is made to support). Divx is the name of the video codec. Now the guys from DIVX 5.0.2 (will have to check this up) improved the the avi specifications and have given it the extension .divx (instead of avi) but it really its still avi with a divx video stream. Only divx player associates with .divx by default. Hopefully I have cleared things up a little.
