Pioneer DV-AX10 only plays vcds?

My pioneer dv-ax10 was working perfectly until i tried playing a vcd on there. The vcd played fine but after that, the dvd player could only play vcds. When i put in a dvd, it would try and read it and then eject it back out. How can I fix this problem? I payed a lot of money for this dvd player and have much faith in it. I don't want to give up on it. All help is appreciated.
