xcopy express 321 doesn't record??? help

    I bought this liteon dvdrw-ldw411s at walmart 8 mo ago
    for what ever reason never would play always hung.now after completely re install windows xp pro it plays dvd's. Now i want to copy i reinstall express 321 and register it again no problems. go to copy aCASTLE IN THE SKY for my kid who is a terror on discs of any kind. it reads it fine prompt for a new dvd i put one in..... and nothin never reconizes any thing switch discs nothin and in the my computer the dvd still regesters the on\ld copied dvd try refresh nothin
    when i close dvdxrpess the windows comes up and ask me to recognize a blank dvd?????
    Help pleeasee.
    fyi castle in the sky has some kind of built in dvd player in the dvd as well i do close this program

    Correction that was firmware if your running Windows 98 go to lit-on page and download the firmware for your operating system XPpro

    I think this could be your problem. I could be wrong if somone else with more expericne could say if im right or not it would be helpful.

    Here is the specs for this burner on lite-on:

    Write : DVD±R 4X CLV; CD-R 40X PCAV;
    ReWrite : DVD+RW 4X CLV, DVD-RW 2X CLV; CD-RW 24X PCAV
    Read : DVD-ROM single layer 12X CAV, double layer 8X CAV, DVD±R/RW 6X CAV; CD-ROM 40X CAV

    It dosent list DVD-R media in the Write Colum. Only says DVD-RW in the Re-Write colum, he is using -R reguler disc not Rewrtiables. Is this the problem why it wont see the -R disc?
