Tweaking ps2 cd potentiometer

I'm getting sporadic problems booting from ps2 cdr-rips in my magic3 chipped ps2. Basically i`m getting a clicking sound on boot and then a black screen. We`re talking working cdr`s that are tested on other ps2`s aswell.

should I try the cd pot tweak, and if so will this sort out my problem, and who else has done this?

Also, i`m a little concerned about the speed cdr rips spin at in the ps2, is this normal? and if so is it healthy?

I would suggest before tweaking the pots, you try a slower burn speed on the backup and cleaning the laser. Dexter

Will try the cd lens cleaner idea :) So do most ps2 cd backups spin so fast the ps2 starts to hover off the desk?
