DMA Question, Which is the best to use?

    I have A lite-on sohw-1633s, I am just wondering wich DMA trasfer mode is the Best to use. On some machine's I've seen Multi-word DMA used and on my NEO2 PLATINUM it AUTO BIOS it to UDMA mode 4. For dvd burning wich DMA Transfer mode is the best? On a side note I get a lot of problems trying to write to DVD-Rs, is it just a media problem or worse?
