I have a sony handycam hi8 TRV250 and was wondering which cord is better to copy hi8 tapes to my computer with.
    A USB,
    a firewire,
    a s-video plugged into a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200,
    or it dont much matter.
I know my quality is sucking with using a USB.
    Thanks

I just saw that firewire is better than USB, but is s-video better than firewire being it is plugged into my Nvidia Geforce fx 5200. Also, I see that if you save it as avi. it makes it better also. How would I save files as avi....any tricks to that. Also, I have Nero newest version and Video Explosion...do I need any other software like WinDV or no....thanks and sorry for so many questions...just a newbie learning the game.

firewire is definatley the best choice if you have the port on you camera

i use pinnacle studio 9 wich is pretty easy to use, it is an all in one program wich is not what the experts use but it gives me excellent results, i certainly cant complain about any of the end results and i am very picky.

you can select the format to save as when you capture
such as avi or mgeg etc
