VCD backup problems ?

I can play some “scratched” VCDs in both DVD drive and stand alone DVD player, but can't copy these VCDs with CD-RW because the CD-RW or DVD drive can’t finish reading all the data from VCD. I notice there are some problems in the videos when I play them. I know a very slow way to back up these VCDs: capture the video with computer by playing the VCD with a separate DVD player (input video and audi to the computer, recording with Intel Video Recording Software), convert avi files to MPEG-1, then burn VCD. This takes more than 10 hours for a 75 min. VCD in my computer. Is there any short cut to backup these “defected” VCDs ? Can I use the SmartRip to get the VCD files and then burn it directly to VCD without encoding?

As copy-protections on some annoying CDs, like PSX, are made normally by creating small "errors" to disc, those tools that allow you to copy PSX discs should also do the copying for your scratched VCD. Try this one:
