From the basic, consumer DVD-authoring software in my price range ($50-70), can someone recommend which they think is better: Roxio Easy Media Creator, Nero, Pinnacle, Ulead, or some other? I want to burn AVI files to DVD. I don't want to worry about settings (bit rate, frame size etc.)--I want the software to do it for me, even though I lose some control. I want to be able to insert chapter points and insert text at the very beginning of the clip (to display the date of the home movie). I would also like to do basic editing of MPEG-2 files (cut out scenes of old home movies that are best left forgotten). Any insight is appreciated! (I have Sonic MyDVD already, but it only burns to VCD--is it worth the upgrade to the DVD-burning version?)

    Hi there,

If you wish to convert AVI, MPG, WMV files to DVD format, try VSO DivxToDVD.

It's still free, and very very easy to use.

As for adding text to your DVD project, I have no idea on that.

If you are going to spend money or a few software, buy Nero Burning Rom, and AnyDVD (http://www.slysoft.com) if you are going to backup your DVDs.

    My 2 cents worth !
