What disc exactly are you talking about, that you burned with Alcohol 120%.
You have to remember the software has changed somewhat since this tutorial.
Please, also don't write in paragraphs as its hard to read what you typed.

Hi there guys, ive been around on a few other forums previously and was looking for a quick bit of advice from a few of your local guru's.... Basically, i have a slim-line ps2 that i would like to get USBAdvance working on. However, i dont have any of the Swap Magic or Action Replay or Mediamax discs to use as the guides suggest... But i do have a completely soft modded PS2 (fat one) thats running:

uLaunchElf, HDLoader 0.86c, PS2net, HDLDumb, SMS 2.6 and Cogswap.

Is there anyway at all that i can mod the slim line ps2 using the modded-fat ps2? Can i bypass a lot of the guide by using my fat ps2 to copy certain files to MC and to the USB harddisk that the slim ps2 will be using?? Any help with this would probably turn out to be a v.useful sticky for your site.. as im sure a lot of other people could use this method for friends etc... Is it doable?

In short - no
Even if you copied the files to the mc using your FAT PS2, you would still need a way on the slim ps2 to be able to boot the usbadvance.elf

Swap Magic 3.6 is only $25 and you could run the usbadvance.elf then plus play backups if you wanted.
Its cheaper than the USbExtreme disk which allows you to use a USB hdd off the PS2.

Or its get Ar Max or Codebreaker and follow the tutorials.

Sorry, so what you are saying is that I need to get a lower version?

3) Now that everything is set up, click "Create Exploit!". You will get a window saying that there are no title IDs in Title.db, and that no files have been chosen. Click "Yes" both times. When the job is done, you will see this message:
A CD image has been built here: C:\IsCentral\ that can be used as a CD or HD image!

4) When the image file is made, put in your blank CD-R and start Alcohol 120%. Click "Image Burning Wizard". Locate your CD image, click it, then click "Next". You will now be at a window called: Prepare your CD/DVD recorder. Set the write speed to 4X, datatype to PlayStation 2, check "Rectify Sub-Channel Data", then click "Start".

the speed type and the datatype are not there.
the only speeds I have are maximum, and 16X
And there is no datatype to chose from

So what are you burning to CD then that gives you problem.

Hey, I downloaded PS2 Exploit Utility 5.1, but it's not loading. When i double-click the "PS2_Exploit_Utility5.1.exe", it tells me this....

Will any version of AR max work for putting the exploit onto the PS2 memory card? cause I have Gameshark version 3 and I cant seem to figure out how to get the exploit onto the memory card with it. So I want to use AR max instead.

hi i am using free mc boot in my memory card to boot my ps2 slim and i use hdloader 0.8b to load my games but when i start hd loader it is showing an error that hard drive is not detected so any can help me pls

hdloader 0.8b is only for IDE hdd. I thought in another post you said you have a USB drive.

You would then need the USbadvance.elf for your USB drive.
Download it here.

Copy it too your mc using uLaunch.elf and then make sure your hdd is formatted as FAT32, and the games copied over with the USB Extreme Win32 utility or USbInsane.

Then launch the USBAdvance.elf with your hdd connected to the PS2.

hi smokyrain thanks for the help.i tried the way u said. the usbadvance.ELF launched for the first time but the next time it didnt .after i start my ps2 it came free mc boot log then it went black screen.my hd is ST3160215A i use an external case to connect it to my ps2 usb.

Does it power on right away when connected to the PS2?

Did you first format your drive with NTFS in Windowsxp, then format as FAT32

If yes to the above, then maybe your drive is not compatible.

hi smokyrain but once it booted my hd and showed the games in it but when i started my games i went to black screen.sometimes the usbadvance is boot from my pendrive but i copied it to my mc but when i try to boot it.it is not booting.is this means every time i should boot it from my pendrive.my hd is an internal one so i bought an external case to connect it to my ps2 is this the problem it is not working. can u show me the list which are compatible .so that i can buy one .thanks for the help.

If it went to Black screen, then the game is probably not compatible.
Check out the compatibility list to see if is should work.

Make sure when booting from mc, that the other pendrive is not in the PS2. Only the USB drive.

That should work fine as long as the USB is powered on when you load USBadvance.
There really isn't a list for USB drives. The one I used was a 300GB Samsung already in an external case. It was USB 1.1 compatible.

The usbadvance.elf should be fine the way it was downloaded and copied to mc.
I do have mine in all caps USBADVN.ELF

You could try copying the USBAdvance.elf to your USB drive.
Then load uLaunch.elf, and go to Filebrowser, Mass/ and see if you see your USB drive. Then launch the USBAdvance.elf right from the USB drive.

hi smokyrain.i tried the way u said but when i launch the ulanch and browse to my usd drive the usbadvance.elf is there but when i select it only black screen is coming .what is the problem .but when i launch any other app from by usb drive using ulanch it is working only usbadvance is not working.thanks for ur help.
