HI!!!
I got some movies of the internet and i need to put them on DVDs so I can play them in my stand-alone DVD player. Most of my movies are in divx (MPEG 4) i know that i can use TMPGEnc to convert to mpeg-2, but what about the audio, also is there something special that i need to do to prepare a movie for burning to a dvd-r?
Please Help!!
Thanks,
AK_RAGE
PS. I have already tried getting PixelTools EasyDVD, cant find a demo, and i did not get a reply to my "order" email.
Audio needs to be in 48kHz, in either mp2 or in AC3. You can use SpruceUp to create your VIDEO_TS folder, demo can be downloaded from our site. Then just use latest Nero to burn the VIDEO_TS folder in UDF/ISO format.
Spruceup can be downloaded, but the download page says its a trial version that will only create 2 WATERMARKED versions before you have to purchase and register. There does not appear to be any place to register or to purchase - making the SpruceUp download worthless.... unless the version downloaded from Afterdawn is a full and unrestricted version. Is it?
Nope, we don't encourage piracy. And SpruceUp can't be bought anymore, Apple bought the company and uses their technology as part of their own DVD authoring suite nowadays. SpruceUp is basically offered on our site because it is one of the few DVD authoring tools that has 100% working demo available that people can test.
It's not piracy if:
1) The company no longer exists
2) The software is no longer available for sale
3) The software is no longer supported
All of this appears to be true in the case of SpruceUp.
Since the version available for download from this site is functionally crippled (can only be used twice, and even those 2 uses have a watermark embedded!) I suggest that you either:
a) Link to a fully functional, non-crippled download
b) Not link to it at all and cease recommending its use.
How can you, in good conscience, recommend the use of software with these known limitations?
Like said, free alternatives don't exist. And we don't really have any purpose to get sued by Apple who now owns all rights to Spruce product line -- as long as the copyrights are owned by someone, that someone can sue you.
Once someone comes up with freeware DVD authoring tool or 30-day demo of some other authoring tool, we'll cease offering SpruceUp (like we've done in past with various tools).
Ulead's DVD MovieFactory is a simple, easy to use authoring tool which can be downloaded from their website for a 30-day trial period. It only accepts mpeg's but the file can be converted to VIDEO_TS, UDF/ISO image, or burned directly to DVD-R. In addition, it also burns CD and VCD.
I never had the opportunity to try SpruceUp but I was very pleased with the quality of the MovieFactory and have successfully copied 5 DVD-R's thus far without any coasters.
Has Afterdawn.com given any consideration to promoting this software?
Tnx for the tip. We unfortunately don't have even a single DVD-/+R(W|AM) drive yet, so we really can't say a word about all the tools available at the mo'. But yeah, I ask our other guys to see if they manage to squeeze some time to evaluate MovieFactory and maybe some other authoring tools as well. Things work kinda slowly in here as we don't get any $$$ out of this, just do the thing because its pretty fun :-)
