I recently installed a xenium ice modchip (highly recommended to anyone .. easy as hell) then realized a 120 GB hard drive would be a nice touch, so I threw that in as well. Everything works well except after the xbox is left on for more than 5 minutes if I turn it off it won't come back on. It starts .. stops .. starts .. stops .. then flashes red and green but does not bootup. Can someone help me please? I'm also not sure I got access to the full 120 gigs. If you can .. tell me what you know. Thanks.

It gets worse .. I did some more research.
I have a Xenium Ice solderless chip. I read somewhere that if the LED on the chip itself lights SOLID RED (which it does when this issue occurs) the system is overheated and I have a hardware failure! The problem is not permanent as the xbox can be booted after a certain amount of time. Please someone help me with this .. I don't know how to prevent the xbox from overheating.

This may seem stupid but I do not know how to increase the fan speed .. and I figure it out can it be increased too much?

If your flashing red and green( FRAG ), then you need to double check the connections you made from your chip to your xbox. There should be no reason what so ever you would be overheating after 5 minutes. Give us some more info, what dash, are you using, evox, ava, unleashx, and what version xbox? The more info the better. Can you boot to the original MS dash with the mod off?

one of my buddy's had the same thing happen to him, and it happened to be that his fan crapped out on him...just something to check, make sure your fan is working....and always check your solder points when you get fragging.

    Thanks for replying,
I am using EvoX M7 (couldn't get M8 to work properly) and I'm pretty sure the xbox is v1.4. When I try to boot MS Dash I get no sound or video and xbox flashes green.

And I can't check my solder points because I didn't solder this one. I used the solderless kit. It worked a little better before I put the 120 gig hard drive in.

well if you didn't solder, make sure you have your chip alligned properly...as for the bios use the x2 bios: x2_4983.06

m8 is for 1.6 xbox's...maybe the x2 bios will work better for you...but if you have a 1.6 your only option is the m8 bios

It definetly sounds like your chip is not aligned properly since your getting frag. The x2 bios mdsup suggested is a good bios, but the M7 and M8 will work fine too as long as the m8 isn't a M8_16 bios which is only for 1.6 version xbox's. When you try and boot from the MS dash with the mod off what error code are you getting?

Just in case anyone runs into this problem .. I used EVtools to change fan speed for M8 (and M7) from 20% to 34%. Works fine now. Has for a few days
    Thanks for everyone's help

Just do a 12v fan mod!!! Rip the black ground wire from the connector and use some electrical tape and tape it on the case. What do you mean if the lcd stays solid red your Xbox is overheating?? My sytem Temp is under 100 degrees Fahrenheit and my lcd light is solid Red because that's the color I chose after I flashed the chip. If the xbox were overheating then you would have an orange light.

Also, you could cut a hole on your hd tray and the fan would directly hit the hd and it would really cool it dow alot.

Your Xbox is fragging....power up, power down, because your pogo adapter is not lined up properly on the LPC. Check your install and do the papertrick. You would only have a bios issue if you boot up the Xbox and it gets stuck on the flubber screen or could be an overheating issue as well. If you boot up the xbox and get a frag and an error message(Probably error 5) then it's your D0.

I had the same problem when i installed mine it booted 3 times then the chip went red but, sometimes it would work right. What i did is i sent it to a local guy who i purchased my 200GB HD off of and he had to solder it to the motherboard. I posted the same question and my responces were that the little wires that go in the holes were not in all the way and making a crapy contact. This is what was also told to me by the guy that soldered it he also said the solderless SPICE is very easy to install but the key is to get it in the tiny hols just right. You might be better off just getting it soldered. Good luck!
