I am capturing video with my ati tv tuner. it is saving the files as mpg files and is already VCD ready-to-burn. my question is i want to cut the commercials out of the file before burning it as a VCD without having to decompress and recompress the file. I tried using VirtualDub and then TMPGEnc, but that takes too long having to de/recompress it. is there any program out there that can cut out portions of the mpg and just save? thanks in advance.

In TMPGEnc click file - mpeg tool. Click the "merge and cut" tab. Open the mpg file and select it and click edit! there are two buttons "{" and "}". simple means start and end. So select what area you want and click ok. Change the video type to Mpeg-1 Video CD. Type an output for your file and click run. If you have to do this a few times through the movie you can also load in all the pieces you cut out and merge them by clicking run!
