i d/l troy, it came w/ a .mdf, .mds file. burned it sucessfully w/ alcohol. it plays on my pc but not on my dvd player. i have a sony dvp-ns715p. any solution? could it possibly be that it's a Pal file instead of a ntsc file? if so, how can i tell? i appreciate your help.

Did it make a VIDEO_TS folder and IFO and BUP files in it? when you open the disc?

could be a VTS sector issue...run the VIDEO_TS ifo file thru IfoEdit

After burning a .MDS file you should have a disc that contains an AUDIO_TS folder & VIDEO_TS folder.

If you d/l Troy , then maybe it's the fault of whoever uploaded it !!

That is what i dont understand. Did you burn the image of the files or just play the files itself with alcohol 120.

ur right. after i burned the .mds file, it did create an audio and video_ts file. and then i followed this guide:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burning_dvd_with_nero.cfm

but i still am not able to play the dvd on my player. i get that "cannot play" message on my dvd lil' screen. so i'm assuming its my player, right? if not, what else can i do to get it to work?

i d/l "ifoedit" and i went thru that guide from that link that you sent me. it didn't detect any bad .ifo files on that movie file. so i guess it could be a Pal formatted movie, cause i'm sure my dvd player don't recognize that.
it's driving me nuts! but thanx anyways.

    one note:
i just noticed that on the description column of an ifo file it depicts my movie as a Pal. so no way can my sony dvd player play it, right? so if i click on the "Region Free" button, would that make the movie playable?

PAL or NTSC have nothing really to do with region.

If you're in U.S (ie; a predominately NTSC country/continent) then it could be DVD player or TV ... as many TVs in USA only play PAL in black n white or a f**ked up picture in any case.

I live in U.K and we are totally backward compatible here , so we can play either PAL or NTSC [is well handy - lol]

yeah, i'm thinking it's my dvd player afterall. what i'm trying to do via a user's guide, is to convert the pal to ntsc using nero's vision express. but the damn thing keeps on crashing/hanging when i want to import the VS files. i'm trying to look for other ways to convert pal --> ntsc.
