my. dvd burner only seems to work with sony dvd-r's. I have tried many other brands ,but everytime I try to burn something on to one of the non sony brands it only wants to burn at max and then I get invalid media. My Dvd burner is a lite-on dvd burner. I did not used to have this problem before. I has only started this recently. Also it has no problem burning cd-r at all.
Ah, we need to get you up to speed on what firmware is. The firmware is a set of instructions that reside in a small chip in every burner. They're the "brains" of the drive so to speak because they allow the drive to recognize different brands/types of media then select the best writing strategy for that particular media. Updating the firmware may help your drive work with different media much better than it is now What exact make/model Lite On do you have?
I love my Sony SONY08D1 Media... And Nephilim, you have my vote for President! ;-) Also, as far as saving your bandwidth for your sig gif, have you tried using this free link for that purpose or other gifs? http://www.imageweb.info/index.php
If you have DVD Decrypter it will list the make and model in the drop down menu for selecting the drive, Nero Info Tool will work as will DVD Identifier
That's odd. What does DVD Identifier list? http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm
I know that my other Burner which was packaged as an I/O is actually an OptoRite DD0203 and shows in Device Manager as "GENERIC DVD RW 4XMax".
My NEC ND 2500A got to where it would only burn DVD-R 2x,< tried looking to buy 2x discs and could not find any > would not burn at 2x on an 8x disc, firmware was changed from 1.06,1.07 and 1.08 dual layer. but would do CD's great!! would not copy to CD RW, DVD RW or format either of these!! finally before screwing it up i just added a Plextor 716A!!
Kustom I think it might be wise to actually see what your Burner says on it's case as to what the Make, Model number, and any other helpful markings might be so as to locate the latest and most important, correct firmware for it. That's how I found that my other burner was actually an OptoRite, allowing myself to go to OptoRite's website and download the correct firmware.
I pulled my dvd burner out and here is what it says: Manufactured Sept. 2003 DVD +/- RW drive Model # DD0201 Accesstek Inc.
OK thats an Accesstek drive here is the link to your firmware http://www.accesstek.com.tw/_englis...=4&PHPSESSID=d06f0cc1f5774620891b372af162e4d1 just down load the first firmware there its version 2.601
Nope just the first one. It will have all the other combined with it. Firmware usually makes your DVD RW recognize more DVD media seeing how they change all the time it is a good idea to check every so often.
Just for curiosity, I downloaded dvd identifier and it only recognizes my external burner. It shows up as LiteOn DVDRW LDW-851S (FW GSOP). I put a blank dvd in and it read it as FujiFilm DVD-RW, manufacter was Mitsubishi and the code was MCC01RW11n9. I also have a Toshiba DVD-ROM, but it wasn't identified. Is this because it is a ROM vs a burner?
