After shrinking,burning, I still get skipping/choppy results. Using Ritek/ridata 4x and 8x media and they still skip or often stop playing in dvd player (PS2...the smaller one). Should I try a new media,new burner/sony, or a different speed to burn
probably need to give more info to get a good answer.pc, burner,burn software,burn engine,and dvd player.i use nero after shrink to burn.it usually burns slower than the media says.if you have other software try to set the speed manually.

Do you have any other player to test the disks on? It may just be the PS2 doesn't like those disk's. There has been more and more bad post's about Ritek lately. Run one of your disks threw Nero CD/DVD speed 1. Open Nero CD-DVD Speed 2. Click on Extra 3. Select Scan Disc 4. Click in little box that says Surface Scan 5. Then Click on start You will see where your disk is bad if you have any red thats bad green is good and so on.. I scan all my back ups this way to make sure there is no problems.
