DvD burning help

I just bought a dvd+rw when i try to use dvd-r disk to burn a movie why do i get there is no disk in the drive or unkown media.How can i fix this problem

 

Does the drive only burn dvd+ ? if yes you cant burn a dvd-r disk in a dvd+ only burner....

 

how can i tell if it burns dvdr?

 

Try "googling" the make and model of your burner.

 

it should say on the front of the drive if it can burn both if not go to the manufacture"s web-site tell you there or like jim_dandy said google it ok....
