ok i have had the matrix mod chip on my xbox since the day the chip came out now i was thinking of updating my mod chip to the likes of xecuter 3 ce or smartxx v2le... but should i?? i mean i dont use xbox live and all i do is play back-ups and also avi files from it...some emulators to... so do i really need to? what are the benefits from the upgrade? thanks for your help Alex.

No need to upgrade, unless you want pointless things to mess around with like say changing the colors of the Xbox startup screen and just little things like that. I'd say stick with your original chip...
If you can afford it then I'd say upgrade. I replaced my Matrix, Xecuter2.6 and X-B.I.T. chips. I now have all Xeniums in case I want to sell one of them. I'd never give someone an older modchip.
