I think a chat room would be pretty damn sweet. And coz I spend like 6 to 10 hours a day just buming around on the net it would give me something else to do.
Hey Bubba1982, There is a chat room here on aD, but it is for mIRC. It is great and definately have help if you are needing a question answered, but always good to do your research first. If you'd like, there is a quick an easy guide to set up mIRC, here on Afterdawn. Just go to the GUIDES section and scrolled all the way down, and follow it. BTW, the server is actually not that one, but it is: irc.stormchat.com Hope this helps!
I got onto the chat... And it was empty. It would be heaps better if you didn't have to use mirc and had a chat room based on the site.
Yeah...I suppose, but I think that is why they would rather use the mIRC. Most of the questions asked here are very repeatitive. No offense to you but could you imagine how many times, if there was a chat, there would be the same question asked. Not to say the same thing couldn't happen in mIRC, but with the OPS there, it doesn't happen. People wouldn't even search for the info, and that is what would probably be the BIGGEST issue. I just started using the mIRC about 4 days ago, and it is great!!! BTW... There is usually someone in there...do you know what server you connected too?
When you first setup and log on to mIRC, it will tell you after it goes through all the scripts. Pretty much, the server address is always going to irc."something".com or something similar to that. Then after you are connected, you want to go to the message window, where you type your text to talk, and put in the new server address for aD (AfterDawn): /server irc.addictz.com (or I think it is .net), when you do that, you will come to the aD channel, or the old one, you will see a prompt after you connect letting you know that you need to go to the stormchat server. Then you do the same thing: /server irc.stormchat.com (or I think it is .net), and after that, you will connect to the server. Once there, you will need to join the room: /join #ad_buddies After that you are IN! Try it out, with the guide here on AfterDawn, and then just follow what I just told you and you will be good to go!
There are simply too many potential headaches involved with having a site chatroom to make it worthwhile. It would require constant moderation to ensure that everything stays legal since anything and everything that goes on in a site-based chatroom becomes a legal responsiblility for said site. That's entirely impossible considering that none of the mods here have the time or inclination to make it work but if someone was prepared to pay me my current yearly income to do so then I'd be more than happy to
Nephilim, If your current yearly income does not exceed more than say $9.50 then I'd be more than happy to pay ya to moderate the chat. lol. Anyway, I see how it could be one huge pain in the ass. Still would have been pretty cool... grumble grumble.....
Move that decimal to the right five places and you have a deal I agree it'd be cool but the unfortunate fact is there're way too many idiots out there who've nothing better to do than ruin things for everyone else.
i recently purchase a laptop and the fan turns on really loud and its really distracting is it suppose to be like that?
Hey onegurl I hate to be a stickler, but this kind of question should be posted in the "Other PC Hardware" Forum. Hope you find your answer!
LMAO!!! It's ok...don't worry about. But if I can give you any advice, and I always have tons, it would be good to read the forum rules so that you won't get people out there who are rude to you! Trust me, I have to read them over again myself sometimes!!! Right Neph? LMAO!!! BTW...welcome!
Just so that anyone else who comes in here and reads all this. I been chattin on the AD mirc chat and I can't remember exactly who told me but one of the guys is actually working on a web chat.
