home dvd players

    hello to all once again...need to know when it comes to home dvd players..what kind of recordable media do they play..is it dvd+r or dvd-r..thanks to all..

    depends on what brand you get. They are all different. I am going to buy one that plays everything (-/+, DVD movies, CD-R/RW, VCD, SVCD). Even the sales people at the store(s) don't seem to know which brand plays what So you have to look online at the manufacture's website(s)to find out most of the time. I have found that DVD +r is the most compatible, however, you may hear different from someone else.

    You can find some good information at http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers on what media types and formats are supported by various players. Since it is based purely on user input it is not complete, but I found some interesting info about one of my DVD players (Apex 1010W) which is apparently capable of reading SVCD discs even though Apex doesn't mention this anywhere.
