Im experimenting with things and noticed with NeroVision Express that if I try and fit 3 700 MB .avi files onto a DVDR that the entire process to completion will take 18+ hours. Does this sound reasonable? It already takes me 6 hours to burn one 700 MB .avi. It just seems like a very long time.
I was just discussing with herbsman about NVE not being a good encoder. Yes, it would seem too long. You may want to check and set 'DMA' to 'on', or use another program (e.g. DVDSanta) for the job.
