This is killing me. I have spent all of yesterday and today searching the forums and web to find a solution for this but no luck. I thought i will do my best to search and solve myself before posting here. But now I have no other alternative. I am trying to open an avi file within VitualDub (i need this so that i can extract the audio from it). I need the audio seperate so that i can use it to encode this avi into TMPGEnc (with the .avi and .wav). But i CANT open the avi in VirtaulDub! I get a messsage that says that a DirectShow codec is not accepted and that I need a windows media codec. I did all that and installed a windows 9 codec from a microsoft link (found this as a solution from other site). But still no luck! What should i do now? please please help me.
Get Gspot. Open the video and see what codec it needs. Download and install that codec, NOT a whole codec pack.
Thanks mate all good now. The message was something like what I mentioned above and that 'xvid' format was uncompatble or unknown. So I simply installed the xvid codecs only. Now its working
