Only if I knew AD was around before I spent all my money on blank 'NON' rewritable dvds at the beginning of my burning/ripping era.

First rule of AfterDawn.com is you search before you post.

Common answer to ripping problems: Use DVD Decrypter first!

This will only work for those that can read. Unfortunately that leaves half of the Newbie's out. The other half will use the search.

Good link for newbs....
Any error message in shrink has been answered here....
http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45339

Good Info...
Packet writing apps....get rid of them.....
Part of the way they work is to keep constant access to the drive so when another burning app needs to gain exclusive access to the drive it can't and the write process will be aborted. The three main packet writing apps are connected to burning suites.

- Nero comes with InCD.

- Roxio come with Drag To Disc.

- RecordNow comes with DLA.

All three should be found in Windows Add/Remove programs listed under said names :)

wild77,
Very nice post, and my vote goes in for this being a sticky as well!!
If all the newbies read this thread it would cut down on a lot of the redundant questions. Again very nice thread indeed :-)

Yes it's true,
I'm a noobie for ever. However with these 2 threads which are in my favorites I'll move up in no time. I haven't had time to fully investigate all the links but I am sure they will increase my IQ expedentially. It's a shame I had to dig so deep to find them. It would be a great thing to find them at the top of the dvd-r for noobies list as a permanent structure. And I'm still learning to read so please be gentle with me.
