I think your trying to get the audio portion of a DVD for conversion to a .mp3? From what I can tell, DVDDecrypter can't rip the audio portion since its embeded in the movie files. There are programs that remove and convert the audio portion. I haven't used them yet, but I have searched them out. Check out the audio tools here.

    http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdfab-fullsplit.htm

There are other sites as well. Good luck.

For future reference, while this is an audio thread you are asking about ripping a DVD. You're more likely to get the help you need right away in a DVD area.

I think they are talking about DVDs!

Yes you can rip just the audio portions of the video files on DVD's. Its called stream proccessing!

So, camarienz, what type of DVD are you tring to rip (concert music or movie)?

DVD Decrypter does it all (for free),

    OK, then...

    1) First make sure that DVD Decrypter is in IFO Mode!

    2) Click on the main Concert file under the input tab

At this point you can choose to rip all of it or just one scene (or song).

    3) After sellecting the files you want to rip, click on the Stream Proccessing tab.

    4) Enable Stream Proccessing

    5) Check the Audio stream box only!

If there are multiple audio streams choose the one that only has two channels.

    6) Now, [bold]highlight[/bold] the checked audio stream and choose to Demux it

    Now your ready to rip!

    7) Rip the DVD (audio stream) to your hard drive by clicking on the DVD to hard-drive icon.

That should create an AC3 file. If you don't know how to convert AC3 to Wave or Mp3 I can help you with that too.

Alright some people like to use an app called [bold]HeadAC3he[/bold] while others prefer [bold]BeSweet GUI && BeSweet EXE[/bold]. I like BeSweet, so thats what I'm going to show you how to use. Also if you can't play the AC3 files then you should install this popular AC3 DS filter:

    AC3filter project:
    http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/

    Part I

    1) Download BeSweet.exe and the BeSweet GUI (the first two on the list)

    http://besweet.notrace.dk/

    2) Download the Azid.exe (AC3 decoder, .ZIP)

    http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/showsoftware_azid_87.html

    3) Downlad the LAME.exe (Mp3 encoder, .ZIP)

    http://www.filepedia.com/audio_software/audio_encoders/lame_mp3_encoder.cfm

    4) Place the contents of the BeSweet.exe folder (not the folder) into the Besweet GUI folder (so that they are in the same directory). Also so place Azid.exe and LAME.exe in the Besweet GUI folder (for quick reference).

    Part II_A (Creating a WAV)

    1) Start up the BeSweet GUI

    2) Ignore any type of BeSweet help wizard (the wizard is crap).

    3) In the locations txt box make sure that the GUI knows

    a) where the BeSweet.exe is
    b) where the AC3 file is
    c) where the Azid.exe is

    4) go down to the output type box (not the output location box)

    5) Choose [bold]Wave-Stereo[/bold] (unless your AC3 file has more than 2 channles)

    6) Click the green "AC3 to Wav" button

That should create a Wav file

    Part II_B (Creating an Mp3)

    1) Start up the BeSweet GUI

    2) Ignore any type of BeSweet help wizard (the wizard is crap).

    3) In the locations txt box make sure that the GUI knows

    a) where the BeSweet.exe is
    b) where the AC3 file is
    c) where the Azid.exe is
    d) where the LAME.exe is

    4) go over to the profiles box

    5) Choose the [bold]Mp3_for_Music[/bold] profile

    6) Click the green "AC3 to Mp3" button

That should create a Mp3 file

Remmeber to put all EXEs and DLLs in use in the same directory (file) as the BeSweet GUI!

    Good Luck,
    Ced

Awesome tutorial diabolos!! Tried this a few different ways before with no luck until now. Decrypter/BeSweet/Audacity workes like a charm to pull the audio off a DVD so I can convert it into a ringtone for my Motorola phone! Great job with the detailed explanation.

If your getting a .VOB file make sure that you are highlighting the AC3 stream and choosing to Demux it (at the bottom of the box). [bold](Make sure you actually highlight the stream don't just check the box!!!)[/bold]

hey diabolos I need some help... I downloaded the newest BeSweet and the BeSweet GUI... but I'm not exactly sure how to set it up... I put all the files from within the BeSweet folder into the GUI folder like you said... but how exactly do I tell beSweet to find the files... such as the azid.exe (which wasn't in the files of either folder, just the azid.ddl) and BeSweet... then when I tell it where to find the .ac3 file at... it wont let me put it into the input box either... I could really use the help... thanx....
