Whats funny is...they get pissed when we don't help with their pirated material and then they start mouthing off.

 

its a whole mindset...you download it for free, so you expect it to work, and the get pissed when it doesn't. OR, you actually buy the game, know it will work, and you don't go through the hassle of cracking and pirating, and help out those poor software bastards who sit at the computer 18 hours a day doing nothing but typing code.

why do people even ask for support on pirated, illegal software anyways, isn't it obvious that if you don't pay for something, how are you going to actually have the audacity to complain about something that you got for free???

if you "hacked it" and got it to work, good 4u, u can go reward yourself w/ a cookie now; but, more often than not, it won't work the same as if you actually have a legit copy.

common sense people, to complain and bitch about something you got for free, now those people deserve to be shot, either by neph or by a shooting squad. hell, i wish i could send people like that on a huge rocket to the sun. i am trying to keep my language as "clean" as possible, as i do not want to dirty this thread with MORE foul language that i am more than capable of.

 

I have to agree. If I see a topic where it is obvious that the person is using software they downloaded instead of paid for I just don't reply or try to help. I liked the old way better where such talk was not allowed.

It does seem to be the whole mindset. The programs that I really use, I want to support the authors. I mentioned the other day about paying for Opera in an IRC channel and got the comment "F*** paying for software". Everyone wants everything for free now. I wanted to pay for Opera because I really believe it a superior product to the free alternatives, and that most of the things that the others copy such as tabbed browsing, mouse gestures, popup blocking, originated with Opera - they are the ones doing the innovations that benefits us all and so deserve my support.

In the same spirit, I will not support the people that don't deserve it. I have not bought a single cd from a RIAA member since Napster was shut down. When Napster was up and running I was able to try new music and my music purchases increased. Now I refuse to buy music no matter how much I want it, except for independant artists who are not affiliated with the RIAA cartel. I don't download their music either so it's not like I am just not buying it because I can get it for free.

If they can't get a game to work on their own, then they obviously shouldn't be playing it.

I so don't understand this...why is it, that when you like TRY to point them into the right direction, like check the guides or something, they think you should just tell them on how to do it from the get-go. Then they up and leave once they get their answer. Even in the forum rules it states, not like they have read them, but:

I would say that everytime there is a thread like that, just throw the rule up there...let's see if they get the hint (probably won't though).

My suggestion, and if want to have some fun and be mean about it...if ya see it up there, throw the rule up then ban the account. On top of that, I think it was suggested that the forum rules would be throw at them when they signed up, or something to that account.

Sucks though not to get a handle on the situation. Hope you find a way to deal with it Neph!

 

for those that want to try the game , its rather simple.Most pc magazines have playable demos of most new releases.Its only like $10 that they actually have to fork out.They get a good read on the latest technology and also get to play maybe a level or 2, 2 there hearts content.The best of both worlds.Its a win win situation.

 

i have to agree with Nephilim. Im studying Digital Entertainment at University, with a view to working in games or film special effects.

And these little bastards will be taking money out of my pocket

I know 30 quid is alot for a game, go and rent it first, and if you dont like it then you have only wasted 4 quid, its that simple

A couple years ago I got my very own first computer and was turned onto Kazaa. Without knowing about what I was doing I started downloading all kinds of music and movies, which was OK. Then I started downloading software, and ended up with viruses galore. Same with cracks (I mean ESPECIALLY cracks), they were loaded with viruses. Since that fiasco I've given up downloading stuff like that altogether. Maybe that's what these people need, a nice virus. And a mean one, one that'll teach them a good lesson.

Security researchers have discovered an attack aimed at would-be visitors to Google.com, one that attempts to download malicious programs onto the computers of people who simply mistype the search giant's Web address.According to security specialist F-Secure, unsuspecting Web surfers may be bombarded with various types of Trojan horse threats, spyware and backdoors when they go to "Googkle.com." The scheme is meant to take advantage of sloppy or hurried typists, given that on most keyboards the letter "k" key sits next to the "l" needed to type "Google."

Google representatives said the company had no comment on the matter for the time being.

In the past, the company appears to have made moves to protect its users against mistyping errors. If a person puts an extra "o" in Google's URL, they are simply redirected to the company's homepage. On the other hand, if someone mistakenly adds a fourth "o" to Google, they are directed to USseek.com, a Web portal that offers pop-up advertising for an online casino.

In an advisory, F-Secure strongly advises people not to go to Googkle.com. People who do so will see two pop-ups linked to Web sites that install the Trojan programs. One of the programs is a phishing-style Trojan that attempts to garner individuals' online banking information, while another drops phony antivirus alerts on the victim's desktop that attempt to lure people to other infected Web sites.
