Why do dvd movies look so clear & sharp on computers but not on regular tv's?

Is there a tv in particular you are talking about? I have 3 wegas(32",36",40") and I haven't seen a computer screen with a better dvd image than those. Are you talking about SDTV(480i),EDTV(480p) or HDTV(720p,1080i when upconverted)?

I have a 17" sony trinitron and a sony 19" flat panel LCD monitor. Though both have great clearity, they don't surpass the quality of my tvs.

I know there are better monitors than the ones I have with better resolution and badass video cards, but I can't see myself watching a movie on a small ass computer screen. Though I have nothing against people who watch movies on their computers, it's my opinion that the experience is better on a tv, especially a nice big screen(and progressive scan). Even at 480i, (I'm assuming you don't have a HDTV)you should get a dvd player for your 32" tv. And you shouldn't stop there, a nice surround sound system will only enhance your tv experience.

on mine, the picture looks better on TV than on the PC, but I'm using an LCD monitor, so I think that's why.
