does anyone know how much i should pay for an xbox dvd drive or can i put in a normal pc dvd drive and run it that way..?? thanks guys..
the price depends on the brand of the dvd rom here is how i would pay for dvd roms with shipping included and brand new: 1. thompson: no more than $40shipped 2. phillips: no more than $55shipped 3. samsung: no more than $75shipped 4. modded pc samsung: no more than $85shipped no you can not just put in a dvd rom from a pc...however you can buy samsung dvd drives that have been modded to work in the xbox...these are supposed to read everything you put in them. your best bet would be to get one off of ebay...if you buy one from a modshop or online store you will have to pay way too much for the drive.
Word of advice on the Samsung. If it is manufactured with a version 1.6 Xbox, it is not as good as the older version. I have both of the newer version drives and they don't seem to read CD-R at all. Maybe someone else has better luck and prove me wrong, I'll appreciate it.
