    Hi

Is there a software that generates subtitles for a avi movie like german to english or other.? I not talking about adding subtitle files to a movie but software does actually generates subtitle files for the movie automaticly. like as you watch the movie software will run in the backround and will generate the subtitles. I know it is a long shot but no harm on asking.

    you can translate with babelfish.
assuming you have the text file.

translation is not transliterated. its like looking in a dictionary and paste it by word.

If you have the subtitles in a VOB, you can use Subrip 1.17.1; we even made a guide for this: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/rip_subtitles_with_subrip.cfm . But the DVD subtitles are saved in 'image' form, you need to 'teach' him to transform those images to letters, first.
And you'd better to check the spelling with a word processor, first.

Thanks for the quick response. However, My question was I don't have any sub files. For example the movies I have is Franche and dont have any subtitles. And I don't speak franche. My question was such a software that smart enough will create or generate subtitles from scratch in english from france with voice recognation or sound track does exist?

There are plenty of internet sites which have thousands of subtitles, expeiclly English but even in other languages.
Just as an example, try http://www.hot.ee/subland/ , which has the adventege to avoid asking you your e-mail address, to register...
