Could you give us a little more info please nick,
Have you been through the network wizard on windows?
Are you getting an error mesg?
Can you see one computer from the other and browse files? Is it just when you try to transfer data you have a problem?

Just to let you know for next time dont need to post same questios twice - someone will get roung to helping if your patient.

Hey! remember to turn on file sharing on both computers!
And both computers must have the same workgroup name setup, i.e. MSNHOME or whatever.
Then it should work fine unless the firewall stops it as the other guy suggested you to check.
    Hope it helps!
    Cheers,
    Nick

    hey again bigears,
TCP/IP are protocalls used in sendind and verifing data DNS is whst is used to find a site by name rather than IP address---> dont think you need to be dabling with these but may be wrong.
I take it all network hardware is intalled correctly?drivers etc.
and as nist suggested you did enable files sharing on BOTH comps when setting up network?

Can you ping the other computer?

    Open a DOS box

    two things do an ipconfig/all

    Check what comes back

type ping 192.168.0.n (n being 1 or 2 the other PC)

You are not using a router and you are using a crossover cable?

    Looks a good site.

The principle of the "Ping" command is to send a ping to the other compter which then echoes it back. So basically it tells you if there is a connection, before you get to the stage of setting up shares.
