You're right, not many people use DVD95Copy. It's been around for about 4 years and it never really caught on. I noticed at the DVD95Copy website that they have DVDFab Platinum listed as one of the products for sale. You're already using part of the program when you use DVDFab Decrypter. You should be updated to the new DVDFab HD Decrypter now. DVDFab Platinum would have been the one I would have gone with if my selections were limited. Fengtao's software gets a lot of praise around the forums.
With the big screen, I'm surprised you're not using a true encoder. A friend of mine has a home theatre with a projection unit and he swears by Rebuilder with CCE.

Yeah, I paid for DVD95copy 4 years ago, and its a lifetime thing so its nice not to have pay every year. And even though the software has some quirks, the quality of the compressed movies is great, which is all I really care about.
However, I guess I don't really understand the difference between compression and re-encoding. I prefer not to chop out parts of the DVD content and mess with menues, and I don't copy movie-only, I like to copy the entire DVD with director's comments, special features, previews, and so forth. The only thing I generally get rid of is foreign language tracks.
As for decrypting, I use DVDFab because it was free. The Platinum version had an expiration date. But Platinum did work better, for sure. I do occassionally come up against a movie I can't decrypt, most recently was Idiocracy, and a while ago the Pink Panther movie with Steve Martin. Both would not decrypt at the time, although probably the latest versions will work now.
I've also had tons of troubles with labelling. I've settled on printable Maxell white-tops because they seem to last. I've used a few cheap-brand white-tops and they start having read errors after a year or two. Very annoying. I used to use paper labels, and still have 100+ DVD's with paper labels that someday I will soak and remove the labels from. None of them play as-is, but removing the labels revives them and they work fine. I did finally find a solution but its painful and expensive: I use clear plastic labels and an ALPS printer with dry-transfer ink. First I pre-print the clear labels with a coating of white ink (Alps are one of the few printers that have a white ink cartridge availabe), then print again over-printing with the actual DVD label. And if possible, a final spray of clear acrylic coating from a spray that has no acetone and the DVD's look like store-bought. Its fun, but a lot of work. And DVD's that I did over 3 years ago taht way are still working. But about a year ago I ran out of Alps ink and have not done any that way since then.
These days its much simpler to buy white-top DVD's and print using the Epson with regular ink, and don't bother with clear-coating. Its hard to find a clear-coat spray that doesn't eat into the DVD, and I've ruined one too many DVD's testing out new sprays.
Ahh.. the joys of copying DVD's. Its an obsession really, because I'm almost certain that for the amount of time and money invested, I could have purchased all the DVD's I've copied. And then there would be no problems with DVD's that stop working after a year or two.

I simply label the DVD copy with a Sharpie. If I want the artwork, I do the label cover for the case. After all, the DVD is either in the case or in the player and should only be seen during transfer. Seems a lot of time invested for such a short viewing period. To each his own hobbies I guess.
Compressing, encoding and transcoding are talking about the same end, getting a larger source to fit a smaller target. Transcoding cuts out parts while encoding disassembles and reassembles the DVD files for best bitrate. Encoding takes longer, but does a better job. If you're happy with DVD95copy, there's nothing wrong with that. If you want the best quality, give Rebuilder a try. There's a free version with free encoders.
As for DVD95Copy, what can it do that Shrink can't? I've used Shrink long enough to know that it compares favorably with any transcoder it's been put up against. Its failing is that it may not be as fast as some, but it's not too slow and it's free. Quality Settings allows it to handle fairly heavy compression. Those of us with encoder software automatically switch to the encoding programs when compression starts climbing over 20% (unless we're just in a hurry or checking the limits of a transcoder program). If you want a retail transcoder that's fast, good quality, and has a lot of options, check out DVDCopy 6 Plus.

Last I noticed InterVideo is still selling the DVDCopy 5. Since InterVideo and Corel merged, they're now selling an upgraded program Corel DVDCopy 6 plus. 6 is actually a good upgrade over 5 and does more with the mobile formats.

A couple of days ago I needed to split my copy of the new pirate movie, clone would,nt do it, ZoSoIV recomended to give copy6 a shot, it has a 30 day trial, it worked great, it was easy to understand and hardly any config's for comp. dummies like me, 5stars. Thanks ZoSoIV.
I know, I could have done it with the DL's, splitting it with reg. dvd's is still alot cheaper.

ZoSo
Fredbun nailed one of the big difference. They've made the Copy 6 interface easier than previous versions. It doesn't take much study to understand how it works. I've not had it long enough to really give it a good trial. However, it has the functionality of DVDCopy 5 with the addition of the newer mobile formats. It's really more like a good upgrade than a different program. Last time I checked, InterVideo was still selling both DVDCopy 5 and the 6 PLus.

CloneDVD does split movies. You need to read the instructions on how to use the program.

As bilbo65 has pointed out CloneDVD will infact split the movie and give you fully functional menus. Here is a guide on how to accomplish this CloneDVD 1:1 guide

Where've you been bb?
As for splitting DVDS, my old DVDXCopy does a good job. I still like the Copy 6 better though and there's no need to read guides. ;)
I guess if a person wants to save a few bucks by doing the reading, that's a good deal, as long as they already own the software or want to use something free like the VobBlanker. I wouldn't advise buying CloneDVD 2 though because there's so much more that programs like Copy 6 can do. A big for instance is that once again Slysoft saw a way to make a few extra bucks. They sell CloneDVD Mobile for the mobile formats. That's included in Copy 6.
Copy 6 is a transcoder and conversion program. Copy 6 is a well organized program with an easy interface that records video in AVI, mobile formats, and DVD and does conversions between the different formats. It's one of those "do most everything" programs that does the job well. Use the free DVDFab HD Decrypter and you've got just about all the software needed to do a bunch of different backup jobs with different formats.

what about regional codes, such as PAL do any of these programs offer a conversion from them to the format we use here in the US?
