i have an xbox ver1.0 i installed an executer 3 chip and an upgraded hd we had a power failure in our street.the xbox chip has now died.and the hd. i tried to replace the hd with the original drive but i have like 15 drives from 15 different boxes as usual none of them worked.maybee i threw that one out.is there any way i could put another xbox drive in there and use it. or use another eeprom to use.i get error code 6 on boot upive been triing different things for weeks now and any help would be appreciated as before this site has always helped me in the toughest of situations and i could use some help now.thanks skpippinsi have 2 othermodded xboxes if that helps an x3 an an xb2lite soilderless
if you want to use a stock xbox hd that you have lying around it must be unlocked...and if none of them are unlocked you might as well just throw them away because they are useless(unless you have the motherboards they came with)...only option is to buy a stock unlocked hd, or go to the store and get a brand new upgraded hd.
thanks but the xbox im using is not modified anymore i took out the chip and i put in one of the stock hds.it gave me error 5. then i put it in my modded xbox and unlocked it with config majic and i got error code 7 when put it pinsback in my unmodded xbox.and damm thats was a fast reply thank you.i was told i needed the pair the mobo and a hd that comes together.i guess i could buy a new chip but im triing to figure a way to not spend any more money.still need help.thanks skpip
error 5 means the hd is unlocked...so you must lock it to boot the retail bios...and you don't know which hd went with your mobo? hmm, don't know what to tell you...even if you do have a unlock hd, you will need a modded xbox to lock it.
i do have a modded xbox i have 2 modded xboxes ones x3 and the other is a 2blite soilderless.i cant figure out where that drive went for that xbox i never throw them out.but i tried locking it in the modded and then i tried unlocking it in the modded one and still no luck.man im bumming there must be a way to do this without a chip or else ill have to buy one.thanks for ur reply any more info let me know skpippins
In about half an hour i will have an unlocked 'stock' xbox hard drive with a new dashboard already installed if anybody wants it....will probably work with whatever you can throw at it. Works with modded xbox, i.e with x3 chip (if you didnt fry it) Lock the hard drive to your modded box with evolution x if you have it, if not, hollar for a boot disk. Jim
hey jimm i need a drive that will work with an unmodded xbox i want to soft mod it the board is fine the drive crashedand the chip fried too.its a ver 1 xbox
sorry pal, cant help you there, the one i have would only work with an un-modded box if you installed it first, then locked it and took the chip out. You can buy stock hard drives on e-bay for next to nothing. jim
