I have a Yamaha CRW6416S CDRW Drive. I've used it for a couple years to burn CDR's with no problem. Recently we began using the computer to record TV shows, cutting then to VCD and wathcing them on our DVD player. To avoid using so many CDRs, I decided to purchase some re-writeable disks.

I was able to burn VCDs to these as well, they play in our DVD player, and can be browsed on the computer using a normal CD drive. However, the Yamaha drive (that recorded the disk in the first place) cannot read it, write to it or erase it. So my rewriteable disks are giving my only one use.

I am using Windows XP Pro and Nero 5.5 to burn the CDs. I've also tried VCDEasy with the same results.

I've applied the latest firmware for the CDRW Drive, and I've loaded the latest ASPI drivers from adaptec.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the Full erase, or just the Quick erase? I find some of my CD-RW disks do not erase using the Quick erase, but do erase using the Full erase.

    I recommend using cd-r's.

Change ther media and if even with a different brand you notice the same error, contact the burner manufacturer.
