I recently bought an XPod case and put my xbox into it. I fired it up today and the Slayers dashboard I have running immediately shows a CPU temp of 192 degrees!!! I would have to say thats impossible seeing as how I just plugged it in. However, after about 30 seconds the temp shows 197 and the xbox shuts down. I pulled the whole thing apart and all the connections look good. When I touch the heatsink on the CPU its not hot at all. I put new heat transfer grease on the heatsink. I have 2 80mm fans installed, one in the stock location blowing air over the CPU and another on the side sucking air out. Anyone know where the temp sensor is for the CPU?? Maybe its bad or something?? I had no problems with temps or the xbox shutting off until I put it in the new case. Any ideas??? Thanks for any ideas anyone can pass along!!
holly crap 192. odds r your cpu isnt running that hot (probably would have exploded or somthin cool like that by now) but your xbox thinks it is so its gonna turn itself off. all i can say is make sure your heatsink is SECURELY on the cpu. (funny story, i got curiouse one day and decided i wanted to see the cpu in my xbox, only problem was i broke the damn clamp that holds it down. mine was running at over 70 for real.anyway long story short i stuck the round part of a spoon in there and walla good as new runs at 40 now) (the heatsink should be warm by the way even after only a minute of being on, could mean it aint workin) dont know nothing about the sensor though. try starting your xbox with youe hand firmly pushing down on the heatsink and see if it gives you a lower temp. u have to push pretty hard, but dont break it. k im gonna shut up now
