Can anyone help solve the problems.? I have and have been using a Toshiba Satellite 2800 Laptop for many years with only minor problems ,however the problem that have arisen is that the DVD Play will now not play back any form of CD,s an error message reads there is no CD in the D drive , the system reports that everything is running OK No problems however nothing happens when you place a CD in the DVD / CD Player , If you place a DVD in the player then No problem the DVD Play,s straight away. No one seems , that is any of the repair centres what the problem is you will get a different answer from each of them , the last saying it is for sure a problem with the DVD/CD Player that is not working OK then we will change it and replace with a DVD , rewritable etc etc the full works, and also run Micro soft X/p change everything. Not so simple as it may sound. Problem 1 can not install anything because of the problem of the DVD /CD Player .Try installing through outside player , Problem 2 can not install microsoft X/P Toshiba blocks it unless its on their disc, Problem 3 Can not install new DVD /CD Rewritable etc as the old one can not be removed it requiries a special screwdriver ?
