I heard the PS3 can burn dvds. Is this true? Why would they do that? Solves the problem. Use Ps3 to burn Ps3 games.
What else does it do? Play dvds I assume. Play cd's.

The ps3 wont burn dvds. Ps3 games will be blu-ray not dvd. It will play dvds, not burn them.

Wow, I didnt realise that the dicss had a capacity of that much.
I want to see what kind of games they are looking to make if they really need that much of space...the games will have unbelivable graphics i presume and the gameplay will b amazing. (Even better) I want to see what the FF games will be like :) Because if you look how awsume the graphics are now, i cant imagine what they will be like when they release the PS3...

Actually you probably don't want to see how much they cost bro ;(.It would just be an upset, because look how much DVD-9 media cost at the moment right.Think how much Blu-Ray blank media will cost, probably cost out the ying yang to buy just one of those discs.I heard some news recently that they made a 200Gig media disc,so yeah they can hold alot of space if they wanted to.It cost alot of money to get ahold of one of these discs though.I think everyone is better off waiting for the media to come down in price instead of buying it when it is available.

Yeah, that is true. But if these new blue-ray discs are supposivly not able to have media burnt on to them what is the point of creating a media capacity of that much...I mean possibly MAX 20GB but 200GB...lol that is insane!

yea, to be precise, a single sided, single layer Blu-Ray can hold 25 GB; it works the same as DVDs, add a layer or side and the capacity doubles, so these discs have the potential of holding about 100 GB. Oh, and also, I think you may be thinking of the PSX. The PSX was Sony's media power-house of a ps2 that could be a TV-tuner, burn DVD's and much more. It didn't have much success in Japan but I think that they are still releasing it in the US.

PSX that's what I'm thinking about.
If all the games are going to be in HD then they need huge blu-ray discs.

There was rumor floating around that there would be Blu-ray burning on a special edition but no DVD burning. We'll have to wait and see!!

i don't believe either sony or microsoft are stupid enough to incorporate burners into their next generation consoles. and, as a personal note, if the games cost more than they do now (an arm and a leg for me), i will not buy another PS-anything or X-box-anything game again. i'm already most the way over to pc gaming.

thats exactly what I am starting to do... I used to buy PS2 and Xbox games like they were coming out my a$$. That was a big mistake price wise. So I got a modchip and started burning my own games, saving about $50. Then I got a Really nice computer, and in my opinion, I like the PC games better. Now if the PS3's games are non-burnable, I will not be buying those games for there unbelivable prices again. So yes I am probably going to stick with the PC games from now on.
Although, in my opinion, I think someone WILL find out a way to burn these new PS3 games, as someone always does...
