Man you guys are lucky that price without tax it around £600 in U.K and thats bloody cheap over here a laptop costs about £1000. In my opinion I think Laptop 1 is better, just depends on what you really need it for. :)

    Alright another question

even though Hewitt Packard and Compaq are owned by the same company which product is better? For Example

Lets say that both HP and Compaq Laptop had these exact same features which one is better?:

    AMD Athlon(TM) 64 3200+ (2.0GHz/512KB L2 Cache)
    15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    128MB ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory(TM)
    1.0GB DDR SDRAM (2x512MB)
100 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
    DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support
    54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)

Also What is the difference between these 3 things:
    54g(TM) Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
    54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
    Integrated 56K Modem + 10/100 Ethernet LAN

and the difference between these 2
    54g(TM) Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
    54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)

I say the Compaq would be better (don't know why), and the difference between the 2 is probably that you can use a Bluetooth dongle to connect to the router (wireless with bluetooth). If you don't know what Bluetooth is then here's a copied meaning
    :)

    Another Question

Ram vs Processor(let's say that it costs the same for both)

should i buy a laptop with more ram and a slower processor:
    AMD Athlon(TM) 64 3200+ (2.0GHz/512KB L2 Cache)with 2.0GB DDR SDRAM (2x1024MB)

    or
    faster processor and less ram:
    AMD Athlon(TM) 64 4000+ (2.4GHz/1MB l2 Cache)with 1.0GB DDR SDRAM (2x512MB)

Hi for what ur talkin bout ?? AMD is better purley for a gamin purpose there is not much diffrence between all sys u listed it just depends on what ur using it for and how much experience u have in maintainin the pc's??

The other this is that AMD is a hotter cpu than intel soo i use an amd and havent had many probs it roughly the same.

    hi,
this may sound like a silly question but....
prices in america are obviously cheaper than in the u.k. Im goin to New York this friday, do you think its worth buying my new laptop over there, or is there any compatability issues with uk software etc

    thanks

    dave

    P.S Laptop 1 seems better

Just as u do with an intel machine.

My comment was in regards to the CPU runs hotter as in heat generated in the machine

with a pc u could put anothe fan in but a laptop im not sure

i have an athlon pc and have not put an extra fan in yet but i have heat issues soo i limit the hours i use the pc
