    Welcome!
You may have several problems. Xcopy can't handle the latest encryptions so depending on what movie you are doing that may be it.
Write errors can mean your burner doesn't like the media your using.
    What movie are your copying?
    Is it the original?
    Are you just using Xcopy?
    What media are you using?
    Are you multitasking?
It's been a while since I used Xcopy - are your i/o errors from xcopy?
    What's the full error?
With some more info I sure someone here can help.

    hi, thanks for the response.
the movies are originals. i bought them new and they've no scratches on them. ladder 49 & national treasure. the dvd's im using are memorex dvd+r. ive used them in the past. im thinking you may be right, because they are newer movies the encryption is too difficult or something? the programs im using are dvdX platinum, dvdX express and i even tried dvd decrypter. like i said in last post, sometimes it gets past the read part and starts burning, but then stops maybe 1/4 of the way through the write. but other times, it wont even allow reading the discs all the way through. im basically at a dead end and dont understand why it has stopped working for me. i tried uninstalling and re-installing platinum, but that didnt do the trick.
i dont know how to copy and paste the errors here in the post, so i dont think i can do that. is there a way that im missing that could give more info to others here?
    thanks.
PS-i shut off anti-virus and pop blockers and try copying while im sleeping so i not running anything else while the copy programs are running.

    Hi defens29,

Here my 2 cents on all this:

    1. DVDXCopy will not handle the latest protection (Noted above).
You will need (AnyDVD or some other tools to remove the protection 1st)

    2. DVDXCopy (Platinum) will burn at MAX Speed, which is a problem with DVD Video. Most of us suggest burning at 2x or 4x MAX.

    3. Memorex are the cheapest and probably one of the worste media out there (Seems by a lot of people on here).

Personally, I have dropped all those 1 click copier.

I use DVD Decrypter (Free) and DVDShrink (Free) and they make a nice job. Then burn with a good software (DVD Decrypter burns too) that let's you choose the burn speed.

    I burn everthing at 2x, I'm patient and get 100% results !

What's the firmware version on your drive ?

    Firmware KH27 is available -->

The 2 movies you are trying to back up soon easy be handled by Decrypter. Decrypter is one of the best rippers out there in my experince. Also if you are getting read errors try cleaning the disc.
I'm pretty sure your write errors are due to Memorex. I threw my Memorex out. If buying from a store try Verbatim or Fuji. Online buy Taiyo Yudens or Ritek.
After following cougar_ii's suggestions definitely post back - good or bad.
    Good Luck!

Dump Platinum use Decrypter. This error is telling you something is wrong with the disc - maybe be seeable or not. I would recommend cleaning the disc (non abrasive - I usually use a lens cleaner cloth).
Make sure you are using the latest Decrypter 3.5.4.0.
Check out these threads for guides on how to use:

I not very good at reading the nero logs but I do see 2 things:
[bold](KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)[/bold] -usually means it doesn't like your media. Throw out the Memorex - pick up some Fuji (look for made in Japan or Singapore)
    [bold]Memory in use : 80 % & 20 out of 20 temporary buffers allocated[/bold]
you need to shut down some processes - too much memory is already in use
I thinking that's why it failed.

Definitely post back - bad, good or otherwise.
I also forgot to point out since you're doing this at night with no other programs running you may have spyware. You should do a spyware/adaware scan along with a virus scan.
In task manager if you can't figure out what the process running are try a site like www.processlibrary.com though they may not list spyware or you can do a search through the start menu and see if you recognize the app as one you installed.
    Don't forget to defrag also.

    @defens29 -

First of all step away from those Memorex ! (see the threads in my signature!)

    - i don't understand why there's 2 different versions here ?

your current firmware rev is KH27 (don't know if that's old or not)

However according to this - http://www.xpmce.com/forum/ftopic87244.html - it would appear your burner is a rebadged BenQ DW822a. Either way i don't know if your firmware is too old, or if you drive is 100% a Benq drive under the hood. [bold]I'd rather others with experience of this drive, comment further than me.[/bold]

    - turn on DMA for that drive - see here for info - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html

    - good, you're burning at a decent speed for know, shame that media is not very good though.

    - try to close down more background apps, maybe disconnect from internet while burning, then you're able to switch off viruse scanner etc etc. You're close to running out of memory, in which case the 'virtual memory' kicks in, ie a portion of hard disc; which means your hard disc will start 'swapping' ie churning while it provides virtual memory, and you don't want this happening when you're writing data off hard disc to a DVD.

    - not sure how to read these values - i usually see these bracketed values displayed in Megabytes; basically i cannot see if you're burning to very edge of the disc as i can't interpret these values.

[bold]edit[/bold] - i've worked it out; this is what i'd normally expect to see -
. Either way it looks like you are burning to virtually the very edge of the disc; in Dvd Shrink's preferences, back off the target size to Custom/4300MB; i have this set permanently regardless of quality of disc.

    - a few of these would to me suggest your burner doesn't like the media

    - splat !!

    - i haven't come across this before, cheers binkie7 i'll have to remember what that means!

YOU'RE GONNA GET A KICK OUT OF THIS!!!
i too, have been having alot of problems with this DVD X PLATINUM v2.1.0 build 43 (by X Software)I was very satisfied with DVD X COPY PLATINUM v4.0.4.15 by 321 Studios (unfortunatelly i used up all 7 of my activations)I installed X PLATINUM to test it, and was satisfied. Messed up and uninstalled X COPY. didn't realise 'till a week later, when i decided to dupe my back-up, that there was an ERROR burned to disc. Using the updated version of roxio 7.5 (ironically at the same time i updated my DVD X)i used nero on my 2d desktop, same thing. done many trys with re-writes (sony4x+RW) until i got a good burn. i even used nero 6.3, and roxio 7.5 to burn the same dvd file to disc via two different desktops (networked). thought it was hardware problem. cleaned with lens cleaner disc and verified firmware update. note that this problem was occurring on two diff. comps. on four diff. burners (HP640c, HP630c, Emprex 1016?? new one, and sony 4x external DRU510UL)three types of media: (all +R's) tdk(my all-time favorite! have over 2,000 in library) sony4xRW, memorex (i'll admit i've been dissatisfied with them in the past) but keep in mind my other 2. i tried burning with network/internet/nortons disabled. no luck most of the time. it's like rolling dice. u never know when ur getting a good burn. then u have 2 check the burn by cacheing it. i suspected it could be 1 of microsofts SECURITY updates. (I always use the updated DECRYPTER)i reformatted one of my desktops and started from scratch (2 C if i could identify the problem: hardware? media? software? MICROSOFT? who knows? i sure don't). xp pro SP1 only. no other programs. disc2disc too, still rolling dice. i even tried a BRAND NEW HP640c (same as my other one) still rolling snake eyes 80% of the time. (returned burner to walmart :) i wish i still had my DVD X COPY PLATINUM v4.0.4.15.
Personally i would like to figure out what's going on here, but now i'm losing interest in all of this.
    HINT! HINT! HINT!
can anyone help me get my old version back into play???????
i paid $150 for v3.2.1 (off the shelf at FRY's); discovered DVD Decrypter, then started using v4.0.4.15 (no CSS) everything was perfect . . . 'till now. i wanna go back to the way it was before.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS???
FYI - my hardware if interested: using 2 desktops (identicle in every aspect) intelP4 3GHz 800FSB 1GB dual DDR3200 XP PRO SP2; drives are UDMA set and enabled, and over 300GB HDD space on each.
    old set-up consisted of: DVD Decrypeter(up2date), X COPY PLATINUM v4.0.4.15,Roxio 7.0 (on both)(no internet)
new set-up: Decrypter 3.5.4, DVD X Platinum v2.1.0.43, Roxio 7.5 on 1 Nero 6.3 on the other (4 xperiment'l purposes) cable internet, firewalled, ad-aware, nortons, updated, defragged alot.
1 day i'm in good shape, the next i'm down for the count
Somebody help me TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME!!!

    ZERO, out
