sorry if this has been asked before. When i open a .vob file and go to Audio-->COmpression and select ac3 decompressor i also select show all formats. I select one of the formats but when i try to save the avi it pops up a message which says "the requested conversion not possible". Then i tried to extract the wav and compress it with another prog saving the avi without sound. I must say it worked very well. But what about the above?
Hi buddy, Yes true :^) So what's going on - you're trying to make an AVI but having trouble with the audio? What do you want, do you want to get the AC3 from a DVD? Then maybe convert it to MP3 and hook it up with your AVI? We can do that. But tell me how are you making your AVI?
I was trying to compress ac3 to mp3 along with the video conversion. But I have found another way of doing by which I encounter no problems. I extract the ac3 to wav and convert it to 44HZ and 16bit. Then i compress it to mp3 with cdex and just put it with the compressed video. PS. When i extract the wav file of the video, i compress the video file soundless. Everything works fine now. Thanks a lot for your concern.
Kewl, you do sorta what I do, I rip the video with GordianKnot but I do my audio separately. I will just use the AC3 audio if it's two-channel 2.0 Otherwise I convert to VBR MP3 using BeSweet (Azid) and CDex. Note: you don't really need to downsample to 44.1kHz (waste of time). Old guides from the 90's will suggest you do that but you don't really need to anymore. Nandub (modified VirtualDub) works with AC3 and VBR MP3 audio, and is a joy to use when doing these things... It is hard to find (standalone) but can be found within the GKnot rippack: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/gordian_knot.cfm L8R
