I have a similar problem. I have burnt discs 1-3 using only DVD Shrink with no problems. My drive however will not even read disc 4. The drive light blinks for a few secs, then stays lit. DVD Shink says there is no disc in the drive and it shows nothing if I try to browse it with explorer. I know my drive is working because I have burnt other discs since.

Did the whole Deadwood set just fine with DVDD and Shrink. Rip to Hard Drive with Decrypter-Shrink-Then Burn with DVDD.

    Can't wait for Season 2!

DVD43 along with DVD Shrink and anyone with burning problems is taken care of.

dvd43 will load up at start up or activate it. once you put the disc in there's a little smiley face, lower right looks like yahoo messanger logged in. that will turn into a devil face then turn green. Your disc is ready.open up dvd shrink rip it to hard drive. close shrink up take out the real disc put in you back-up, then change destination from hard disc to your burner and your good to go.

Only one problem the new disney valiant movie is impossible!
    (Cyclic Redundency Check)

p.s.- I have tried conjuctions of free dvd to you would not believe and thats the easiest way, aswell as there was no luck with getting
Valiant to burn either so if anyone gets that please let me know

hope I helped someone, peace out!

It would be interesting to see what encryption systems are being used. Download the AnyDVD trial from SlySoft. http://www.slysoft.com It's good for a few weeks. Read up on it at the site, it's a driver type similar to DVD43 only it's updated more regularly and I prefer the functionality over DVD43. Getting back to the AnyDVD, in settings, under the Program tab, select the bottom box for the information window. That gives you the encryption info on a DVD when you put it in. Once you note the info, just close the window. Copy the window for the problem DVDs and post it here so we know what you're up agains. Another thing about recent encryptions, they've been playing with the structure so something like a cyclic redundancy error will occur. AnyDVD is good for handling those problems as well. So, don't say you can't do a backup until you've tried the AnyDVD as well. Real problem DVDs I use AnyDVD and rip to the HD with DVD Decrypter. Once I have a good rip on the HD, then I go ahead and encode and burn. With a good rip, most any app can do a decent backup job if it's any good at all.

As for 123 Copy DVD, I wouldn't take it on a bet. I used it on a known problem. It did movie only because the encryption problem wasn't located in the main movie. However, with the full disc, it hit the encryption and came to a screeching halt. With less than stellar video quality and poor decryption, I deleted the app.

Yeh, since my last post I figured out how to beat that redundancy stuff. Still having problems with one movie. (Walt-Disney's Valiant)
Went and got any dvd, we'll see how this work's?

AnyDVD is the best app I've seen handling the cyclic redundancy caused by encryption systems. It's not going to help with bad discs or equipment, other causes of cyclic redundancy. If your Valiant problem is due to encryption, AnyDVD should do the job. Let us know how it turns out. Madagascar was one of the later releases that had a lot of systems acting up and AnyDVD quickly updated for the new encryption. I've not heard of anything new lately that AnyDVD isn't up to date on. The movie industry likes to keep throwing in those changes though. I guess it discourages some users. Since a good rip is key to a successful backup, those who keep up with decryption have little trouble with the backup process.
